On June 11, 2013 VEB LEASING delivered the third Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 to Yakutiya air carrier under the program of replacing the fleet of Russian air carriers with the use of operation leasing of foreign-made aircraft.The first two planes were delivered under this contract in December 2012 and April 2013.Yakutia has become the first operator of Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 in Russia.
Yakutia air carrier purchased these aircraft under the Government Program of Development of the Transport Complex of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for replacement of obsolete regional airliners.
This type of aircraft has been selected mostly due to its ability to use unpaved airfields with short runways and to its qualification for low temperature operation.Now Q400 operates successfully in Northern Canada, the climate of which is similar to that of the Russian Far East.
Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 is a next generation airliner meeting all modern flight safety, operation effectiveness and passenger comfort requirements.It is the fastest turboprop of the world with 667 km/h cruising speed and 2,532 km range.The aircraft is powered by two 5071 hp PW150A next generation engines.
Airliner range allows it for operating in the territory of the Republic Sakha (Yakutia) flying from Yakutsk to Neryungry, Lensk, Olekminsk, Chokurdakh, Chersky, as well as at inter-regional routes, flying to Khabarovsk, Blagoveschensk, Chita, Krasnoyarsk and other cities, including that outside of Russia.
The history of collaboration between VEB LEASING and Yakutia air carrier extends beyond this transaction: in December 2012 the lessor delivered two Sukhoi Superjet 100 operating now successfully.
